UAE pledges $25 mn aid for Gaza

UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Thursday announced 25 million dollars aid for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, state media reported.

The UAE president was donating the money as urgent humanitarian aid to support the Palestinian people, "who are exposed to the latest brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip", reported Xinhua citing an official statement.

The Emirates Red Crescent, UAE's state-owned aid organisation, will supervise the aid's distribution. It has also been instructed to establish an integrated field hospital in Gaza Strip to provide medical aid to the victims of the Israeli aggression, which has killed and injured a large number of people in that area.

 

The Israeli air force has been heavily bombarding the Gaza Strip since Tuesday.

Gaza, controlled by the Islamic Hamas organisation, which has been responding to the attacks with self-made rockets.

Earlier Wednesday, the UAE said it "strongly condemns Israel 's aggression" on Gaza.
