The prosecution, while concluding final argument in the rape case against an Uber cab driver, told a court Monday that medical and forensic evidence have supported the victim's version that she was sexually assaulted.
Advancing final arguments in the case, Special Public Prosecutor Atul Shrivastava told Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja that there was enough evidence to show that the woman executive was raped and accused Shiv Kumar Yadav had also tried to commit unnatural sex with her.
He said that even the doctors who had examined the victim after the incident has confirmed that there was an attempt to strangulate her.
The defence counsel will advance his final arguments in the case Tuesday.
The prosecution Jan 31 completed recording of evidence in just 17 days.
According to police, the woman executive was allegedly raped by 32-year-old Yadav inside his cab on the night of Dec 5, 2014.
The court Jan 13 framed charges of rape and causing grievous bodily harm and endangering the life of a woman, kidnapping a woman, criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt against Yadav under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
