Ukraine crisis: EU imposes new sanctions

Brussels, July 26 (IANS/ITAR -TASS) The European Union (EU) Saturday added 15 people and 18 organisations to its sanctions list over the crisis in Ukraine.

The individuals have been subjected to travel bans and asset freezes.

The organisations were subjected to asset freezes.

The 15 individuals and nine out of the 18 organisations were accused of undermining Ukraine's sovereignty.

This brings the number of people under EU sanctions in connection with the situation in Ukraine to 87 while the number of sanctioned companies or organisations increases to 20.

Russian Federal Security Service and Foreign Intelligence Service chiefs Alexander Bortnikov and Mikhail Fradkov and the Chechen Republic's leader Ramzan Kadyrov were included in the blacklist, the EU Official Journal said Saturday.

 

The decision of imposing new sanctions was taken by the EU Council July 24.
