Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko Wednesday appreciated support and help of NATO and the US in dealing with the conflicts with independence-seeking insurgents in eastern Ukraine, Xinhua reported.
During talks with Philip Breedlove, NATO's supreme allied commander in Europe, Poroshenko stressed the necessity for Kiev to enhance cooperation with the US and NATO, Xinhua reported.
"Your visit to Ukraine is significant, as it clearly demonstrates that the United States and NATO are with us in this difficult time," Poroshenko was quoted by his press service as saying.
Breedlove, also a US air force general, reaffirmed support for the Ukrainian people and expressed condolences to the families of soldiers killed during the seven-month-old armed confrontation in Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
