The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Friday condemned the attack on the central Mosque in the Nigerian state of Kano.
"The secretary-general calls on the authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice. He reiterates that there can be no justification for attacks on civilians," Xinhua quoted a statement released by UN chief's spokesperson.
Ban also voiced "the full support" of the UN for Nigeria to fight terrorism and provide security to the population consistent with international law and human rights obligations, said the statement.
A bomb exploded as Muslim faithful gathered for prayers at the central mosque of northwestern Nigeria's state of Kano Friday, which reportedly left dozens of people dead and possibly hundreds others injured.
