"We have, also, jointly launched a massive manhunt to nab the dreaded criminal who looted an AK 47 assault rifle and two self-loading rifles from five-member Uttarakhand police team...we hope to arrest him soon," said Alok Sharma, IG of UP Police, Meerut zone.
In the meantime, the Uttarakhand police have suspended its five police personnel for their lapse due to which the criminals could rescue their associate despite the policemen being armed with automatic weapons.
The police team had brought Amit alias Bhura from Dehradun jail to Baghpat. Amit, who was lodged in Dehradun jail in a murder case, is facing another murder trial in Baghpat court.
UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has taken the matter very seriously and asked police to nab the criminals and recover the weapons.
