England suffered their second defeat in a row after losing to the United States 0-1 in a women's football friendly at Stadium Milton Keynes here.
Alex Morgan rose high to head home a cross from Lauren Holiday in the 25th minute. It was her 50th goal for England. England's 56th minute goal was disallowed when Jodie Taylor was ruled offside. Video footage showed that the goal should have been allowed, reports Xinhua.
England manager Mark Sampson was angry with the decision.
"It's just a wrong decision. Physically we weren't in a position to compete and we knew we had to be a bit clever. We have learned we can be a threat on the counterattack, which is a huge positive because normally we dominate possession," he said Friday.
England have been drawn with France, Mexico and Colombia in Group F at the World Cup to be held in Canada this summer. They will open their campaign against France June 9.
It was their second defeat in a row, following their 0-3 loss to World No.1 Germany at the Wembley last November.
The US team, beaten finalists to Japan four years ago at the World Cup in Germany, lost 0-2 to France last week. They were drawn in Group D with Australia, Sweden and Nigeria.
