US Pacific Fleet commander, Admiral Scott Swift on Friday met Navy Chief Admiral R.K. Dhowan, and discussed a slew of issues, an official statement said.
The issues discussed included enhancement of scope and complexity of exercises, training exchanges, improving MDA by sharing of white shipping information and participation of US Navy in the prestigious International Fleet Review being organised by Indian Navy off Visakhapatnam in February.
Admiral Swift is here January 7-9 on a visit "intended to consolidate the growing defence relations between India and US and also to explore new avenues for naval cooperation", the statement said.
He held bilateral discussions with Admiral Dhowan, and also interacted with the deputy chief of naval staff and members of the Naval Maritime Foundation.
Admiral Swift assumed command of the US Pacific Fleet on May 27, the 35th commander since the Fleet was established in February 1941 with headquarters at Pearl Harbour, Hawaii.
