US Senator Al Franken said on Thursday that he will give up his seat amid allegations of sexual harassment levelled by eight different women.
The Minnesota Democrat made the announcement in a brief speech on the Senate floor, Efe reported.
The New York Times said that the move followed his crumbling support among the Democrats, making him the highest-profile casualty in the growing list of lawmakers felled by charges of sexual harassment or indiscretions.
