Washington, June 6 (IANS/RIA Novosti) US women's ski champ Lindsey Vonn was ambushed at a swanky New York fashion event this week by Olympic officials who administered a surprise doping test on the spot prior to next year's Sochi games.
"Here Lindsey is in this custom-made gown, feeling like Cinderella, and she has to get up and do a drug test," the New York Post said Wednesday, quoting an unnamed source present at the incident Monday during the Council of Fashion Designers of America event at the Lincoln Center.
The event was attended by numerous fashion luminaries including Anna Wintour, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta, who received a tribute from Hillary Clinton, also present at the event.
The mandatory snap drug test was administered by representatives of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) who approached Vonn, a member of the US Ski Team, and instructed her to go into a restroom and "pee in a cup", the newspaper said, quoting sources in attendance.
Vonn was wearing a dress by renowned designer Cynthia Rowley, who stood guard at the bathroom while the skier submitted the test.
"Lindsey met the IOC at the bathroom," a source told The Post. "Cynthia stood guard outside, and no one was allowed to enter the bathroom. They were in there for about five minutes."
After Vonn passed the test, the IOC officials told her to "have fun", the newspaper quoted a source as saying.
