Former Indian Army chief V.K. Singh of the BJP Friday won the Ghaziabad parliamentary seat by a huge margin of over 5.66 lakh votes.
He received 758,113 ballots against 191,188 votes for his nearest rival and Congress candidate Raj Babbar, who lost his security deposit.
Of the 15 candidates, 14, including Raj Babbar, lost their security deposits, as they failed to garner one-sixth of the total votes polled.
Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Mukul Upadhyay came third with 173,042 votes, ruling Samajwadi Party candidate Sudhan Kumar Rawat managed 106,956 votes and stood fourth. Aam Aadmi Party's Shazia Ilmi could get just 89,125 votes. As many as 6,203 voters opted for None Of The Above option.
V.K. Singh reiterated he would implement his local manifesto and bring ambitious projects of national importance to his constituency.
