Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's ashes would be dissolved in the Yamuna river on August 31, after eight days of public tributes across Delhi, State BJP President Manoj Tiwari said here on Thursday.

Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) President arrived at the party office here with the urn given to him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party President Amit Shah, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday.

Soon after the urn containing the mortal remains of the former Prime Minister was brought to the party office, BJP workers and the general public paid floral tributes to him.

Delhi BJP General Secretaries Kuljeet Singh Chahal and Ravinder Gupta said that the people of Delhi have always loved and respected Vajpayee and we have seen the emotions of the people in the meetings held to pay homage to the former Prime Minister.

"In order to enable more and more people to pay homage to Vajpayee ji, 'Asthi Kalash Yatra' has been convened in all the seven parliamentary constituencies of Delhi from August 24 to 31.

"The mortal remains will be immersed in the Yamuna River at Sonia Vihar in the evening of August 31," Gupta said.

The Yatra, which will start from New Delhi Parliamentary Constituency, will be taken out in the morning from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., he added.
