The Venezuelan opposition in the National Assembly will push for the start of impeachment proceedings against President Nicolas Maduro to determine responsibility in what it considers to be a "rupture" of the constitutional order, the head of that group, Julio Borges, announced on Sunday.
EFE news quoted Borges as saying that the National Assembly would take responsibility for "restoring democracy", which the Opposition says was violated by Maduro with a "coup d'etat" by suspending the procedure for implementing a referendum to recall him.
"All this is being done in the name of the people who elected us, in the name of 14 million people who gave us their votes," said the Opposition leader.
