Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu Thursday discussed a host of issues with Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung.

The issues included water supply to the capital through Munak canal in Haryana and construction of more night shelters.

Besides, issues of regularisation of unauthorised colonies, allocation of houses built under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission also came up during the meeting, said a statement from the urban development ministry.

Jung told Naidu that allocation of dwelling units built for the weaker sections under the JNNURM will commence and will be completed by February 2015.

There are about 20,000 such houses to be allotted to the beneficiaries.

He said the Delhi government will soon send its proposals regarding action to be taken for regularisation of unauthorised colonies.

Jung said adequate measures have been taken to provide shelters to the homeless, and about 40,000 blankets have been arranged for them.

He said efforts were being made to ensure availability of water and medical care at night shelters.

Naidu said he spoke to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on the issue of water supply through the canal.
