Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu who travelled by the Airport Express Metro Monday said he would always use the service from now on.
The minister said he will also ask his cabinet colleagues to travel by the Airport Express Metro, saying such services, if put to optimal use, will make travelling convenient for people.
"These are symbols of modern India. If properly used and popularised, it will make life happy for the general public. Aam aadmi (common man) must be the target. The Metro is very prestigious and I felt very happy about DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation)," Naidu said after his journey.
He boarded the train from the Indira Gandhi International Airport station at 8.50 a.m. on his arrival from Hyderabad and travelled up to the Shivaji Stadium station.
Passengers in the train interacted with the minister and "expressed immense satisfaction with the quality of the Airport Metro services", said an official of the urban development ministry.
"Some of them suggested reduction in tariff, increased frequency of services, introduction of bus transport between Shivaji Stadium and major work and commercial centres of the capital," the official said.
