A Vishva Hindu Parishad leader in Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh was arrested for spreading a message that hurt religious sentiments of people, police said on Wednesday.
Sanjay Bhawsar, Barwani district deputy chief of the Vishva Hindu Parishad, was arrested late on Tuesday after a case was lodged against him for sending a WhatsApp message hurting religious sentiments of people, Sendhwa Sub-Divisional Officer Sunil Jolly told IANS.
Protesting Bhawsar's arrest, the VHP on Wednesday called for market shut-down in Balwadi village, Bhawsar's native place. According to Jolly, the shut-down call was ignored by people.
