Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, who is seeking a change in the state unit leadership, on Wednesday met Ahmed Patel, the Political Secretary to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Informed sources said that the top leadership sought to resolve the impasse following Virbhadra Singh's statement that he will not lead the party in assembly elections later this year if Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu continues to be the state party chief.
According to the sources, the party leadership urged Virbhadra Singh, a six-time Chief Minister, to resolve the differences as the Congress faces a tough fight from the Bharatiya Janata Party in the hill state.
