Vitesse maintain lead in Dutch Eredivisie

Vitesse kept their first position in the Dutch Eredivisie football league after a 3-0 win at Go Ahead Eagles in Deventer.

Lucas Piazon scored two times in the first half, both times from the penalty-spot, Sunday. In the second half Gael Kakuta added the third goal, reports Xinhua.

The first penalty was given after a foul by Deniz Turuc, who received a red card, on Mike Havenaar and the second for a handball by Jop Van der Linden.

Among other Sunday's matches, FC Groningen drew 0-0 against PEC Zwolle while FC Twente beat NAC Breda 5-2 at home. Kyle Ebecilio, Dusan Tadic (penalty), Luc Castaignos and Quincy Promes (twice) scored for the home-team and Kenny van der Weg and Danny Verbeek found the net on behalf of the visitors.

 

Also Sunday, Feyenoord suffered a 0-1 defeat against at RKC Waalwijk. In a duel between brothers Erwin and Ronald Koeman, coaches of RKC and Feyenoord respectively, the decision came in injury-time. Aurelien Joachim produced the winning goal in the 93rd minute.

Vitesse lead the standings with 27 points from 14 matches, followed by Ajax (25), FC Twente (24), AZ (24), FC Groningen (23), PEC Zwolle (21), Feyenoord (21) and PSV (20).
