Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will meet "top Indian officials" during his visit to New Delhi to attend the foreign ministerial meeting of Russia, India and China next week.

Asked who Wang will meet besides his Indian and Russian counterparts Sushma Swaraj and Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said: "Wang will meet the top officials of India and detailed information will be released in due course."

The foreign ministerial meet will be held in New Delhi on December 11.

Geng added: "The three foreign ministers will proceed from the current international situation to have an exchange of views on major international and regional issues of common concern and deepen trilateral pragmatic cooperation."

Wang's visit assumes significance as this is his first trip to India after the 73-day military stand-off between Beijing and New Delhi at Doklam.

The foreign ministerial meet was originally scheduled in April. But China did not confirm its presence, apparently in protest against the visit of the Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama to Arunachal Pradesh which Beijing claims is its territory.
