Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has directed oil marketing companies (OMCs) to add 40 lakh new cooking gas connections in Odisha by 2019.

The petroleum minister reviewed the availability and coverage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Odisha, as well as the status of LPG infrastructure, a statement said on Wednesday.

Nearly 7.5 lakh new LPG connections have been given by OMCs in the current financial year.

Pradhan directed officials to make efforts to add 40 lakh new consumers by 2019.

He directed the setting up of two new bottling plants in the western part of Odisha to meet the LPG requirement of consumers.

He also reviewed the status of infrastructure projects related to other petroleum products being undertaken by OMCs in the state.
