Want to serve people: new Goa Governor Mridula Sinha

Mridula Sinha, who was appointed Goa governor Tuesday, said she is excited about taking up the new challenge and is keen to serve the people of the state.

"I am happy and excited to take up new challenges as the Goa governor. It feels good to be part of governance," Sinha, 72, told IANS.

Mridula Sinha, who is a former national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Mahila Morcha, said she will advise the state government wherever required.

She added that her aim is to serve the people of Goa and ensure good governance in the state.

"I am already involved in many social activities, so the party (BJP) has given me an opportunity to work for the people," she said.

 

Born in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, Sinha is a Hindi litterateur. She has authored "Jyon Mehndi Ko Rang", "Dekhan Mein Chhote Lagain" and "Apna Jivan".

She is also the former chairperson of the National Commission for Women.
