A criminal who carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head was arrested after a gunfight here on Monday that left him and two policemen injured, officials said.
The incident occurred before dawn on GT Road.
Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar said his men were conducting extensive vehicular checks when they spotted a man driving in a suspicious manner.
When he was asked to stop, he opened fire and drove off.
When he was finally intercepted, he left the car and started firing in a bid to hide in bushes alongside the road. In the police firing he sustained a bullet injury in his leg but not before two constables were shot and wounded.
The criminal was identified as Mintu alias Manoj of Greater Noida who was involved in over two dozen criminal cases registered in Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Delhi and Haryana.
