A man against whom a dozen criminal cases are registered in various police stations and whose gang was involved in many shootouts was arrested in Ghaziabad on Sunday, police said.
Acting on a tip, a team of crime branch officers arrested Vishwas Singh from near Rajnagar Extension where he was waiting to meet someone.
During interrogation, he confessed that he was the leader of the Yogesh Bhadora gang. A pistol and some cartridges were seized from him.
Vishwas Singh had taken over command of the gang after Yogesh Bhadora was arrested and his brother Pramod was killed in a gang war.
He is wanted in over a dozen criminal cases and was carrying a reward for his capture.
In the last five years, the gang has been active in many shootouts, even within court premises, police said.

Last year, the gang had attacked another gang leader Udham Singh at the Ghaziabad court in which Udham Singh received three gunshot injuries.
Police said at least 15 people have been killed in gang wars between the two rival groups.
