Tainted former Australia Vice captain David Warner will join his former captain Steve Smith at the Global T20 Canadian league later this month.

This will mark the return to the game for the high-profile Australian pair, who were banned from official international and domestic cricket for 12 months by Cricket Australia in March, for their role in the Cape Town ball-tampering scandal.

According to a ESPNCricinfo report, while Warner will turn out for the Winnipeg Hawks in the tournament, that runs from June 28 to July 15, Smith will play for Toronto Nationals.

Smith has been named a marquee player.

Warner, after this meet, will play cricket in Australia's Northern Territory along with Cameron Bancroft, the third player to be banned during the scandal.

Both Warner and Bancroft will play in Darwin's limited-overs Strike League.

The Global T20 Canadian league will take place at Maple Leaf Cricket Club located in King City, Ontario, a small rural village 25 miles north of downtown Toronto.
