The Ministry of Women and Child Development is examining different measures to curb crimes against women in taxis, an official said here on Tuesday.
"There are various issues in the operation of cab services. We are examining how women can be ensured safety while travelling via cab providers. We will soon propose ideas," the official told IANS.
Officials from the Ministry recently met the representatives of taxi aggregators Ola and Uber after an Ola cab driver in Bengaluru allegedly forced a woman passenger to strip. The driver was arrested.
"There are already sufficient laws which assure safety of women but what is lacking is implementation," the official said.
