The name of a scheme to financially empower the poor was selected through a contest on the MyGov website launched last month to facilitate good governance.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the scheme on Independence Day.
A competition was held through the MyGov platform (http://mygov.nic.in) for suggesting the name, logo and tagline for the major initiative for financial inclusion named "Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna", the platform said.
The final logo and tagline will be announced soon, it added.
The name was chosen after scrutinising 6,000 entries from all over the country.
