West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on Monday condoled the death of the Indian soldiers in the Uri attack and said the nation would ensure their sacrifices did not go waste.
Strongly condemning the incident, Tripathi called it a "cowardly attack", and said it was time to stand by the family of the martyrs.
Eighteen soldiers died in the attack.
The governor conveyed his condolences to the families of two deceased soldiers - Gangadhar Dolui and Biswajit Gharai - hailing from the state.
"I offer my tribute to them and heart-felt condolences to the members of the bereaved family. Our state and entire nation will ensure that their sacrifice is not wasted."
