Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju Saturday said the government will improve infrastructure along the India-China border and undertake developmental activities that have not been done in 60 years.

"We will do certain infrastructural activities which have not been done in the last 60 years. The Chinese should not have a problem... they cannot stop me from doing my work," Rijiju told reporters here on the sidelines of a function.

China last month said India should not take any action that may complicate the situation in disputed border areas following Rijiju's statement that there were plans to construct a 2,000-km road along the international border between Mago-Thingbu in Tawang district and Vijaynagar in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The minister clarified that the government's plan to improve border infrastructure would take place within the Indian territory.

"I didn't say that we are going to do anything on their (Chinese) territory," Rijiju said.

He said he was an elected parliamentarian from Arunachal Pradesh and was duty bound to undertake developmental work in the region.
