Will only BJP delegations go to UN, asks Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Friday slammed the Narendra Modi-led government for not including members of other political parties in the delegation accompanying him to the United Nations.

"Earlier the prime minister used to take an all-party delegation along with him to UN. This year it was cancelled. This is murder of democracy. Doesn't any other party, other than the BJP, has the right to speak?

"Is the Centre giving a message that only BJP delegations will go to UN? No other party will accompany the PM," Banerjee told the media here.

Lambasting the "one-party rule", Banerjee accused the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government of not consulting states in governance.

"They are issuing circulars without even keeping state governments in the know. This is not healthy for federalism.

"There is an attitude to destroy the democratic procedure. A culture of irresponsible comments, and unparliamentary utterances is being practised by them. We do not endorse such culture," she said.
