Wolfsburg, PSV pip United, Ronaldo's new record in CL (Roundup)

Cristiano Ronaldo scored four times and Karim Benzema a hat-trick as Real Madrid hammered Malmo 8-0 while VfL Wolfsburg moved 3-2 past Manchester United to eliminate the English football giants in Champions League action.

Madrid Liverpool's competition-record victory from 2007-08 on a historic night at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium here on Tuesday in a Group A.

Benzema got the ball rolling on 12 minutes. The France forward doubled his tally midway through the first period. Ronaldo killed the game as a contest six minutes before the break when he drilled in a low free-kick.

Two minutes after the restart a powerful run from Danilo led to Ronaldo's second after the full-back's shot was deflected into his path. The same players combined again as Ronaldo quickly completed his hat-trick.

 

His fourth, and 11th of the 2015-16 group stage, came on the hour-mark following lovely interplay between Benzema and Isco.

Mateo Kovacic got in on the act by emphatically scoring his first in Madrid colours 11 minutes later. Benzema completed Malmo's misery, and his treble, with a little over a quarter of an hour remaining.

At the the Volkswagen Arena, Anthony Martial put United ahead on ten minutes yet Naldo quickly equalised and Vieirinha finished off a brilliant team move just before the half-hour in Group B.

United were heading out but were back up to second when Marouane Fellaini's header was turned into his own net by Josuha Guilavogui in the 82nd minute. Almost instantly, however, Naldo struck again to decide the game.

PSV Eindhoven advanced to the knockout stages as the first Dutch football club since the 2006-07 season by beating CSKA Moscow 2-1 in Eindhoven on Tuesday.

At Lisbon, Atletico required a victory to pip their fellow qualifiers Benfica to top spot and Saul Niguez and Luciano Vietto struck either side of half-time to ensure precisely that, despite Kostas Mitroglou pulling one back with 15 minutes to go. But Atletico prevailed 2-1 in Group C.

At Seville, Sevilla defeated Juventus 1-0 thanks to Fernando Llorente's goal to qualify fo Europa League in Group D.

At Manchester, Manchester City topped Group D with a 4-2 win against Borussia Monchengladbach.

David Silva gave City the advantage but the visitors led 2-1 at the break through Julian Korb and Raffael. With ten minutes to go, Raheem Sterling equalised and seconds later he netted again to make it a memorable 21st birthday for him.

Substitute Wilfried Bony finished the job to end Monchengladbach's hopes.
