Wolfsburg crushed 10-man Bayer Leverkusen 4-1, thanks to a brace by Ricardo Rodriguez, to close the fourth round of the German Bundesliga.

The "Wolves" earned their first win of the season Sunday as Rodriguez scored twice to ensure Leverkusen's first loss in the fourth game, reports Xinhua.

Leverkusen started poorly as defender Giulio Donati was sent off for a foul on Wolfsburg's Junior Malanda, inside the box, with only seven minutes into the encounter.

Swiss international Ricardo Rodriguez stepped up and converted the penalty into the top left corner to break the deadlock for the hosts.

Leverkusen equalised through Josip Drmic, who shrugged off a defender to slot home from central position in the 29th minute.

Wolfsburg took the reins again just before the break when Vieirinha headed home a pinpoint cross by Rodriguez.

After the restart Wolfsburg dictated the pace of the game but lacked in accuracy as Vieirinha and Malanda pulled their shots wide.

Rodriguez wrapped up his brace with a volley shot following a corner in the 63rd minute.

Leverkusen were unable to put up any resistance as Aaron Hunt rounded off the stunning 4-1 win with his first goal for Wolfsburg in the 81st minute.
