Ferrara (Italy), June 5 (IANS/AKI) A woman has been arrested after she allegedly stabbed her partner to death in northern Italy in front of her young daughters after a heated argument late on Sunday.
The fatal quarrel began in the couple's car as the family returned to their home in the town of Ambrogio di Copparo in the province of Ferrara after spending the day at a beach resort on the Adriatic.
As soon as the family got back from the beach, 45-year-old Lara Mazzoni hurried inside before returning to the car with a kitchen knife which she plunged into 40-year-old Mirko Barioni's chest several times. He died at the scene, reportedly from a stab wound to his heart.
"It's over, I've ended this situation," Mazzoni allegedly told a friend in a phone-call immediately after the frenzied attack, regional daily Il Resto del Carlino reported on its website.
Local shopkeepers said the couple argued "very frequently"," local daily La Nuova Ferrara daily on its website.
Mazzoni and Barioni had reported each to other police several times between 2013 and 2014 after violent rows, Il Resto del Carlino said.
