A woman was injured on Wednesday when the Indian and Pakistan armies traded heavy fire on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.

Police sources said the Pakistan Army used mortars, small weapons and automatics to target Indian positions in Shahpur and Balakote areas. The shelling left a 50-year-old woman injured.

"Indian troops are effectively and strongly retaliating. Till last reports came in firing exchanges were going on between the two sides," police sources said.
