The 24-year-old woman killed in a bomb blast Thursday on a train in Chennai was to marry in a couple of months, her parents said.

Swathi, from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, was an employee of an IT company in Bangalore.

She was going to Andhra Pradesh when two low intensity explosions in quick succession occurred in two coaches of the Bangalore-Guwahati express train around 7.15 a.m., after it entered the Chennai Central station. At least 14 other people were injured.

Speaking to reporters at their residence in Guntur, Swathi's parents were unconsolable as they said their daughter was to be married in a couple of months.

They later reached Chennai to collect Swathi's body.

A witness said the rail coaches were not badly damaged but the seat where the woman was seated bore the brunt of the explosion.
