The body of a woman appearing to be in her 40s was Sunday found on a busy road here Sunday, police said.
The victim was yet to be identified.
"The deceased seemed from a middle-class family and was wearing a green salwar suit. She appears to have been strangulated," a police officer told IANS.
The body was found in a park in the New Colony Area here by people going to the park.
"There were some marks on her neck," said the officer, adding that the post-mortem report will reveal if the woman was sexually assaulted before being murdered.
