A woman who killed an American teacher in December last year was on Monday sentenced to death by the Federal Supreme Court of Abu Dhabi.
Alaa Bader Abdullah Al Hashemi, 29, was held guilty of stabbing to death Ibolya Ryan, 47, in a shopping mall toilet on Al Reem Island and "creating a handmade bomb" that she placed in front of an Egyptian-American doctor's home, the Khaleej Times reported.
She was also held guilty of sending money to Al Qaeda in Yemen, knowing the funds would be used in terrorist acts.
Hashemi asked the court to provide her with psychological help, saying she had "unreal visions" and would see "ghost-like people" due to a chronic mental illness.
The court ordered psychiatric tests which showed she was aware of her actions.
