A woman was shot and strangulated to death by her nephew, seething with anger for being beaten up by her husband few days back, police said Monday.
Kavita, 29, was found in a pool of blood at her east Delhi's Trilokpuri home Monday morning.
When the incident happened, her children were at a relative's house while the husband was out for work.
A police officer said, "Kavita's nephew, Raja, 23, barged into the house and fired a shot, the bullet piercing her left wrist. He then strangulated her and fled from the scene," said a police officer.
Police said neighbours rushed Kavita to a hospital where she was declared brought dead.
The neighbours told police they saw Raja coming out of the house with a gun in hand. When they tried to stop him, he threatened them and escaped.
Police said Raja was beaten up by Kavita's husband few days back over a petty issue. He was enraged ever since.
