The process of plugging the heavy water leak at the first 220MW unit at Gujarat's Kakrapar Atomic Power Station (KAPS) is progressing with the leak being isolated and the fuel bundles removed from the reactor, said nuclear industry officials on Monday.
"The leak has been isolated and plugging process is on. Fuel bundles have been removed," a senior Indian nuclear industry official, who did not want to be identified, told IANS.
The atomic reactor shut down automatically on March 11 following leakage of heavy water from its coolant channel.
