Thousands of workers along with several trade union leaders Tuesday evening protested outside the Manesar police station in Haryana after alleged company goons attacked agitating workers of Munjal Kiriu Monday evening.

Showing solidarity with the striking workers at Munjal Kiriu factory in sector 4 of IMT Manesar, workers from several other outfits joined the protest.

Following their demand, an FIR was registered against three company officials including CEO K.S. Sharwan, AGM (HR) Bhupinder Yadav and HR (manager) Praveen Kumar for the attack on the agitating workers sitting outside the factory gate.

The Munjal Kiriu management had suspended three workers without reason in early December. Later, 52 other workers, demanding the suspension of the three workers be cancelled, were also suspended.

"Workers were agitating peacefully to roll back the suspension for the past nearly one month. Around 7.30 p.m. Monday, goons attacked them injuring nearly one dozen agitators," Anil Kumar, a union leader, told IANS.

"We demand the suspended workers be taken back and the goons arrested immediately," he said.

Earlier in the day, the workers held a meeting at Kamla Nehru Park in Gurgaon to discuss their course of action.

However, instead of giving a memorandum to the deputy commissioner, the workers decided to protest outside the Manesar police station as the attack occurred in the presence of police.

Some of the injured workers were admitted to the government-run civil hospital and later shifted to private hospitals.
