Wrestler who trained Delhi policemen dies

Harfool Singh, a wrestler who represented India at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and trained many Delhi Police personnel, has died here after a prolonged illness.

Harfool Singh, who developed paralysis following a brain hemorrhage some years ago, died at his akhada (wrestling ring) Monday, a member of the akhada told IANS. Harfool Singh was born in Haryana's Bashipur village in 1939.

A police officer said he trained many Delhi Police personnel who won national and international awards.

Delhi Police constable Rajendra Singh, who was trained under Harfool Singh, won a bronze medal in a championship in France, said the officer. He also wrote at least 10 books on wrestling.
