Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik was on Saturday admitted to a super specialty hospital here.
Police sources said Malik had been referred to the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) by a team of doctors at a private hospital where he had been taken for a medical check-up from the central jail.
"He needs specialised attention," said a doctor at the private hospital.
Earlieron Saturday, a protest march was taken out in Malik's hometown, Maisuma in Srinagar, demanding proper medical treatment for the JKLF chief.
Senior separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has prayed for Malik's early recovery.
SKIMS is the Valley's only super specialty hospital.

Malik had been lodged in a sub-jail before he was shifted to the central jail in Srinagar earlier this month.
He was put under detention immediately after the present unrest started here on July 9.
