Two members of the all-party delegation — Sitaram Yechury and Asaduddin Owaisi — on Sunday held a meeting with moderate Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at the tourist resort in Srinagar where he is being kept under detention.
Yechury of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Owaisi of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, are meeting the Mirwaiz at the tourist hut in Chesma Shahi which has been converted to a Sub Jail, sources said.
Separatist leader Shabir Shah, who was under house arrest, has also been brought to the sub jail where the two parliamentarians are calling on the Mirwaiz.
Yechury, Owaisi and D Raja are also likely to call on hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani at his uptown Haiderpora residence in Srinagar in the evening, the sources told IANS.
The all-party delegation headed by the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Srinagar on Sunday on a two-day visit to the Kashmir Valley in the wake of the unrest that has led to over 70 deaths in clashes since July 9.
