A youth shot dead a 24-year-old woman, who was to get married next week, in Haryana's Rohtak district and tried to commit suicide by shooting himself Thursday, police said.
The youth was admitted to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) where doctors said his condition is out of danger.
The youth, Amit of Shora Kothi in Rohtak district, has been booked for murder.
The woman was to get married July 13, family members told the police.
The incident took place Thursday in Garnavathi village under Kalanaur police station in Rohtak town, 70 km away from Delhi.
"The young man attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself but could not succeed," a police official said.
Family members of the woman told police that Amit came on a scooter and opened fire on her from close range. He fled from the spot and later tried to kill himself.
