A 24-year-old youth was shot dead by three bike borne assailants here when he was returning home, police said.

The incident took place on Sunday at around 12.15 p.m. when Dinesh, a resident of New Roshanpura, in west Delhi, was returning to his residence after playing cricket.

"Two bike-borne assailants fired three to four rounds at him near his residence. The assailants were wearing helmets. They escaped after gunning down Dinesh who died on the spot," Deputy Commissioner of Police Surender Kumar said.

The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed at a nearby shop, police said.

"Prima facie, it appears to be a case of gang war between two gangsters Kapil Sangwan and Manjeet Mahal who are presently in jail. The deceased was said to be close to Sangwan. He could have been attacked by Mahal's associates," Kumar said.
