Zapak games cross 100 mn downloads on Nokia store

Mumbai, April 20 (IANS) Zapak Mobile Games, a mobile gaming division of Reliance Entertainment Digital, has achieved a milestone record of 100 million game downloads on Nokia Store, a company official said here Saturday.

Known for its hit titles like "Real Steel", "Total Recall", "F1 2011", "Ben 10" and "ICC Cricket", 22 games from the Zapak kitty like "Chhota Bheem Racing", "Ninja Strike" and "WWE Raw" pushed towards the 100 million mark.

The highest number of downloads were recorded for the game "T20 Cricket 2012" with 7.76 million downloads; followed by "Border War Face Off" with 5.83 million downloads.

"We are elated to have witnessed the milestone of a 100 million downloads of our games on the Nokia Store that positions us on No.1 in India on the store. We are encouraged to continue developing games that will continue to keep the gamers entertained and engaged," said Chaitanya Prabhu, business head-India, Zapak Digital Entertainment

 

Zapak Mobile Games presently offers over 500 mobile games across various platforms including the Andriod and Blackberry markets. These games are spread across genres like action, racing, adventure, sports, tragedy, arcade, puzzle and trivia.

Commenting on the success of Zapak Mobile Games, Gerard Rego, head of developer experience at Nokia India said that since India is big on gaming today, gaming app downloads are growing at a robust rate.

"Being the largest app store in the country, Nokia store witnesses over 80 million downloads per month of which gaming is one of the most popular categories. Zapak Mobile Games' relevant and engaging content has successfully tapped the preferences of the young Indian consumers and they are hooked on to it with great excitement," he said.

Currently, India ranks No. 1 amongst the top five countries where maximum downloads were witnessed with 57,418,175 downloads. It was followed by Vietnam (4,864,552), Pakistan (4,292,564), Indonesia (3,646,806) and Thailand (2,752,993).
