The fact that many of the banal press releases issued by government departments on the Press Information Bureau (PIB) website do not get covered by the media has long been a source of dissatisfaction. Now, a PIB official in charge of a major ministry thinks he has found the answer. Instead of simply uploading the release on the website, he has told his bosses that department officials should share the information with him first. How would this help? Well, he then could pass on the information selectively to journalists touting them as "exclusives".
