The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) faces a severe fund crunch, and has been sending out mails to supporters urging them to donate. But as with everything the party does, there's a twist. The party, which is believed to stand for secularism, among other things, is sending mails under the subject line: "Uttar Pradesh: Kurukshetra in today's Mahabharata." According to the Hindu epic, Kurukshetra was the site of battle between the Pandavas and the Kauravas. The mail says some "some big (political) battles are being fought" in the state and also, names a few AAP candidates - including its chief Arvind Kejriwal - contesting against Narendra Modi, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Ironically, the mail adds: "Politics has stooped low and AAP needs you to raise the standard of politics." Interestingly, Kejriwal has also referred to instances of the other popular epic - Ramayana - in his speeches in the past.
