Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's remark in a recent interview when asked about the 2002 Gujarat riots that even if a "puppy comes under the wheel of a car, one feels sad" has elicited widespread political condemnation.
Congress General Secretary Shakeel Ahmed who is active on social media, responded to this remark on his Twitter handle adroitly evoked empathy for the common Gujarati, tweeting: "Gujratis of both the main religions were killed in Gujrat in 2002. If Modi equates human beings with puppies, it is an insult to all Gujratis."
