A ghost signal

The ghost of the Saradha chit fund scam continues to haunt Trinamool Congress (TMC) members in West Bengal. Last week, Jadavpur MP Sugata Bose spoke of the need to earn money "legally and ethically", while giving the vote of thanks after a speech by Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murty at Presidency University. While Bose had made no reference to Saradha, his message was lost in the following speculation within the party over whether he was referring to Saradha. That was not the first time TMC had seen Saradha's ghost lurking in Bose's comments. In December, the MP had said that those who misused ordinary people's money should be brought to justice, prompting speculation that he was referring to the Saradha scam.
