Kabir Suman, a singer-turned-politician and now a rebel Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member, had announced that he would strum his guitar in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in the Parliament complex to voice protests against the anti-Naxal operations in West Bengal. He also set a date, March 6, for his “protest concert”.

Now, better sense may have prevailed and he has shot off a letter to the party chief whip in the Lok Sabha and informed him that he can’t attend the remaining period of the current Budget session due to poor health. While Trinamool Congress has heaved a sigh of relief, Suman fans and Mamata Banerjee’s political opponents are waiting for another chance to see Suman sing against the government.
